Introduction: PNG and its 800 languages
Hi, have you ever been to Papua New Guinea? Well you have and you've just heard about it. It is quite a diverse country. There are over 800 languages spoken here in almost the same number of tribes and cultures. So, how what unites such a cultural diverse country? Well, there's one common language that they all speak. It is called the PNG Pidgin or "Tok Pisin." In fact, the country has three national languages on top of their 800 traditional languages. The most common is 'Tok Pisin' and the other two are English and Motu (Hiri Motu).
While you would get around well in PNG with English, a bit of 'Tok Pisin' will earn you more than a smile and some good friends too. So, are you ready to learn some 'Tok Pisin?' Go to the next tap above and start.

The PNG Pidgin
The PNG Pidgin has similar words and meanings to the Solomon Pidgin and the Vanuatu Pigdin also known as Pislama. However, there are more English words in the Solomon and Vanuatu Pidgin and their use is quite different to that of the PNG Pidgin.
